CMI Octagon of Virginia owns and operates its own provider network, operating in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, offering both Workers’ Compensation and Auto Medpay coverage. Your decision to participate as an OccuNet preferred provider panel member positions you for direct referrals from the thousands of employers and numerous workers’ compensation carriers in the state of Virginia that CMI represents in the states of Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland reviewing more than $65,000,000 in provider charges.

As an OccuNet preferred provider you have agreed to:

· Provide timely medical care

· Return the employee to work as soon as medically reasonable

· Work with CMI Octagon’s claim staff to promote modified jobs when appropriate

· Accept CMI Octagon’s payment as payment in full

· Adhere to CMI Octagon’s medical policies and managed care protocols

· Refer to network specialists and use network hospitals

Our managed care program involves the documentation of the physicians’ treatment plan, which is used to assist our claims staff in monitoring a case. CMI Octagon of Virginia’s medical staff contacts the treating physicians’ office when the occurrence of a claim results in more than seven days out of work and/or severity of circumstances dictate, to obtain the following information:

· Diagnostic Test Plan

· Plan of Treatment

· Surgery Schedule

· Other Treatment

· Anticipated Return to Work Date

· Acceptable Modification in Job Duties

As a preferred provider, your assistance in this program increases the importance of this network in assuring that Virginia employers remain competitive in the global markets.
